About Me

Avery -- or Avery Anne if you want to get Southern with it -- is a reporter and editor from central Kentucky who is currently getting her degree in Journalism with a minor in Fine Arts and certificate in Legal Studies from the University of Cincinnati. She currently works as the Features Editor at UC's independent award-winning news outlet, The News Record, and helps to bring awareness to underrepresented student communities and topics. Avery has also freelanced and interned with Cincinnati CityBeat and Cincinnati Magazine, two leading local news outlets.

Outside of journalism, Avery likes to try (and fail) new recipes, garden, camp, and put her Spanish fluency to work by traveling.

“I became a journalist to come as close as possible to the heart of the world.”
